Verzell's Story
After graduating from Thornton in 1979 I attended Central College in Pella, Iowa for three years studying art and business management. After taking enough classes to qualify for a business management minor I transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where I received my BA in Visual Communications with emphasis on Design Communications and Illustration in 1984.
While studying at SAIC I began freelancing as a graphic artist and continued to freelance until this summer when a client made an offer I couldn't refuse to come on board full time.

ast summer I resigned as head coach of the team, but stayed on as president of the not-for-profit organization.
In addition to the above I'm in my fourth year working part-time for an organization named Beat The Streets Youth Wrestling, where I serve as program coordinator. As program coordinator I'm responsible for providing mentoring programs and wrestling related activities for high-risk, low-income kids in the Chicago area. I work with approximately 15 teams here, and helped start a BTS program in Cleveland, Ohio in conjunction with the Cleveland Boys and Girls Clubs.
I still enjoy comic books (reading, writing, and drawing), all kinds of music and sports. I currently live in Evanston, and I'm married with two boys.
