Vicki's Story
*April 2023 update- stopped working (for others) in 2018. Still tending my little piece of heaven, almost 3 acres of piney woods 'jungle' that is a fulltime job in itself. Near the Big Thicket and Sabine National Forest in SE TX.. BLESSED with good health, 3 grown sons and 4 grandchildren. Divorced in 2004 after 10 years, loving Yeshua Jesus and growing in God. 11/09 update - still working fulltime at LOWES in order to have access to materials and knowlege on repair of my twice hit by Hurricanes (Rita & Ike) house. Progress slow but sure - just survived first "Black Friday" crowd - what craziness! Just thankful to be working. My mother recently relocated down from Wisc. to move in with me permanently, nice having a roomate. See my youngest sons monthly during my one weekend off each month. Growing fast! Take Care!
HISTORY: In High School I played lots of sports and also finished #10 out of our class of 550. I was considered a brain by most I guess and a jock by some. I was often competing with Marty Bergstedt for top math scores in class.
I finished Uof M in 1979 with a BA in Jornalism/Advertising though burned out soon on trying to sell people stuff they didnt need. I had a real estate license in MN in '80(?), CA in '83 and recently passed the sales license test for WI though mostly for my own info.
I moved first to Long Beach CA in 1983 where I had my oldest son and raised him as a single mom til I married in 1994 at the age of 38. I owned and operated a small Christian Bookstore and later a thrift store in Cumberland WI at the time, having left CA after the Rodney King Riots and earthquake.
I proceeded to have 2 more sons (in my 40s -NOT recommended - do it sooner!) who now live with their Dad in SE Texas. During my ten year marriage we moved 6 times so that I have now lived in 7 states so far in my lifetime: MN, WI, CA, AZ, IL, TX, & OR.
I asked for a divorce in 2004, moved to Oregon for 2007 and moved back to WI for 2008 moving in with my oldest son who had graduated UofW and was working in Madison as a mechanical engineer. It w...Expand for more
as great to get a chance to know better the wonderful man he has become. He recently accepted a new job offer in Chicago so I am in transition again - my favorite place to be! As I have some Texas property which was leased to own until a 2nd Hurricane did some more damage (first Rita then Ike) and sent the tenants running, the timing appears right to head back to SE Texas to make some major repairs and be nearer my younger sons again.
I currently caption phone calls for the hearing impaired 2nd shift in Madison and have several friends scattered nationwide.
Having survived earthquakes, riots, floods and hurricanes, I feel as prepared as possible for whats next - not IF but WHEN to me. 2012 anyone?
Life is still wonderful, new and exciting (as long as I remember that!). I am also studying alternative medicine and herbology part-time so if any illness out there check first with the American College for Advancement in Medicine (acam) for info on H2O2 IV therapy and Photoluminescence (of the blood). Don't accept a diseased state of being - your body IS a miracle!

P.S. - I am safely settled in SE TExas again - having restored water finally and gotten a new refrig. I have landed a partime permanent job at a small local library/museum and going on second interview for a position at Lowes, leaning currently towards the lawn and garden department. They also say I would be good in the lighting, flooring, and paint departments after all my home improvement experience. Drop a line anyone if you would like a working visit to Texas, a couple acres that still need clearing - some BIG downed trees - currently high 60's during the day but in a few months may be heading into the 90's?:
