Vicki's Story
Life
I am living in Missouri now. When Bill Hurlbutt and I got married, in 1967, we moved to San Diego where Bill was stationed in the Navy. We lived in San Diego for most of the time we were in the Navy. We got out in 1978, moving to Omaha, NE where we were ministering in the ghetto of Omaha. We left the ministry, lived briefly in Iowa before moving to Wyoming in 1981. Our two children completed high school in a small town in Wyoming. We loved Wyoming-'wide open spaces' takes on new meaning when you live in Wyoming and Montana. At one point, we drove 17 1/2 miles to get to the bus stop for another 23 miles to school! Both our children graduated in 1985 and 1988 and left home. We continued to live in Wyoming working on ranches, driving commercial trucks and running our own business. In 2002, my husband was injured on the job and found out as a result of the injury that he had an advanced case of renal cell cancer-kidney cancer. end some special time with their grandpa while their daddy was stationed for a year in Korea. In May, 2003, Bill died having spent exactly one year with us and we all think of that year with him as being very special- he was home with hospice care. After he died, I was invited to move to Missouri with my daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren. So I find myself in Missouri. My son and his wife live in Kalispell, MT-a beautiful part of Montana. I am currently running a food pantry in Waynesville, MO. Waynesville is near Fort Leonard Wood- a very beautiful part of Mo, just south and a bit east of the Lake of the Ozarks. I am enjoying being a part of a Word of Faith church here in Waynesville, spending a lot of time with my 3 granddaughters and missing my son Jim, his wife and Jim's 2 children who now live in Australia. I would love to hear from classmates who graduated in 1966 and others whom I spent time with from Atlantic High School, Elk Horn High School and Morningside College.
