Vicki's Story
Life
I would describe myself now as being the typical suburban pie-baking, tennis playing, spoil the grandkids kind of housewife. That is NOT at all how I would have pictured my future when I was in high school. I remember being pretty far outside the box at Grayslake High, but I had a lot of great friends and good memories from my years there. These last 40 years have been pretty amazing, and I feel very lucky and blessed to be where I am. My wonderful husband, Kim, and I just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. He owns a recruiting firm, and I am a homemaker. My current passion is vegan cooking, and if you need 50 different ways to cook beans, I am your girl. We have lived in a suburb of Toledo, OH for decades now. We vacation twice ...Expand for more
a year in Destin, FL, and every New Year's Eve, we do a family ski trip in Northern MI. We have 2 grown and married daughters...the youngest living here in Toledo and the oldest in Columbus (2 hours away). My 3-1/2 year old grandson and 9 month old granddaughter are my sun and moon, and if they wanted all my money and BOTH of my kidneys, I would say "yes." I go to Columbus once a week to babysit for them, and although the 2 hour commute each way is tough, spending the day as "Nana" makes my heart melt. Sesame Street and Team Umizoomi (my grandson's favorite TV show) have probably destroyed more brain cells than I have to spare, but I was able to complete a degree in English a few years ago. I hope the next 40 years are more of the same!
