Vicki's Story

I entered UT in Knoxville in the fall of 1968. In 1970, I married Leonard Metzgar and we moved to California to complete his enlistment in the Air Force. We returned to Nashville in 1971 and I continued my studies at UT in Nashville. I graduated in 1974 and began teaching in 1975. My first daughter was born just 3 months before I started teaching in 1975. #2 daughter was born in 1978. leted at Vanderbilt. I taught for 42+ years, and I taught from Middle School to Graduate School. In 1990, I got a divorce from Leonard, and in 1994, I met my life partner, Susan Johnston, and we have been together for 24 years. Together, we have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Now that we are retired, we enjoy traveling, with children in Georgia, Sacramento, California, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Nashville. We now live in Nashville and Tennessee's first and only co-housing community.

At the airport in Allentown, PA to pick up a colleague and begin our Kirkridge Fellows retreat. What a great way to begin a retreat!
Having lunch with my friend, Kathy Lee at Vui's Kitchen in Germantown. The dog is hers. Isn't he beautiful? His name is Beaux! He is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 English sheepdog. Handsome AND smart!
Had a great weekend in Richmond, Virginia at the Folk Festival and checking out the Capital grounds. This monument was especially moving for me.
50 Years ago....there were more of us, but... I am still a Madison Ram! Had fun at our reunion picnic today.
