Vickie's Story
How does one recap almost 40 years in a few short paragraphs? Well, here goes.
After receiving my bachelor's degree from a small, Christian college in Oklahoma, I went to work for General Motors and now have over 30 years with the company. I have been transferred 6 times to take advantage of promotional opportunities and have lived in the states of Missouri, Indiana, Kansas, California, and now Michigan. I have been fortunate to get to travel to many places in the world like Japan, Iran, Russia, Europe, Thailand, China, Mexico and Australia. After being sent to the NUMMI joint venture with Toyota for 3 years, I was brought to GM's corporate headquarters to help launch lean manufacturing tools like value stream mapping. I continue to serve as a manager/coach, helping organizations like product engineering improve their processes.
I married a Science teacher in 1982 and was blessed with two daughters, Heather in 1985 and Crystal in 1990. I loved being a parent and I am very proud of both my daughte...Expand for more
rs. Heather earned her bachelor's degree from Michigan State and is currently married to an Air Force officer and living at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Crystal is finishing her Junior year in college at the University of California in Santa Barbara and just returned from a semester in the UK. Unfortunately, my marriage ended in 2007, shortly after losing my Mother to ALS. It was a tough couple of years emotionally, but with God's help, I have become a stronger person and optimistic in regards to my future.
I continue to be involved in leadership position in my church and I have ventured out into the world of dating once again. It sure seems strange dating in my 50's, but I am finding there are many who have suffered disappointments and who are also looking for the last great love of their lives.
It has been a real pleasure reconnecting with old friends from my high school and college days. My hope is that we will have a future reunion where I can visit with many of you in person.
