Vickie's Story

Life I've been married to Don Vega for thirty-three years and we still live in Layton. We were blessed with two daughters (ages 27 and 15). I had always wanted a dozen kids, but was only able to have two. And, even though they are twelve years apart, we're grateful for both of them. Our oldest daughter is married and has two adorable sons (ages two and four). Her husband works hard so that she can stay at home with the boys. They are good parents and that makes me proud. When our youngest daughter was five, my husband got her into riding lessons. As time passed, we bought a horse. She competes in Western, Hunt Seat, and English. This is something that she has really enjoyed and has become quite good at. She qualified for Youth Nationals last year and, for a fourteen-year old, that was a big time event. One that she will always remember. She's a good girl and we are proud of her too. My husband still works for Hill Air ...Expand for more
Force Base and has been able to go to TDY to Venezuela once for three months and Egypt twice for four months each with his work. If you ask him, he will tell you that he loved Venezuela and the people he met there the best. He is at a point now that he is looking forward to retiring in about six years. As far as what I've been doing. I have worked at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City for thirty-four years. Through my work, I have made several friends all over the world. As far as what I am doing in the Church, I have been the stake YW president for five years and am getting ready to go with the youth of our stake next year on my third pioneer trek. We're not rich. We don't live in a big, fancy house. But we feel like we have been very, very blessed. I love my family. I love my job. I love my involvement in the Church. And we've got lots and lots of good friends. Life just doesn't get any better than that.
