Vickie's Story

Life After graduation I worked at various jobs before meeting and marrying Charles Booker from Varnell GA of Whitfield County. We had two daughters Melodie and Keelie. We lived in Calhoun and Varnell for some years before settling in Cartersville where Shaw transferred us and Charles worked. I eventually went to work at Sears at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw, GA and worked there for 12 years in the kids department, but I am now retired from there. Both my daughters graduated from Cass High School in Cartersville, GA. Melodie, my oldest daughter passed away in 1998 from renal failure one month short of her 26th birthday. Keelie my other daughter is a licensed barber/hair dresser. She got married in August of 2007 and now they are parents to a beautiful baby boy. His name is Trinity Giles McBrayer and he turned 3 on May 30th, 2011. He has been a blessing to us. Sadly due to health issues, Keelie can't have any more children. . He has grown so much, and is saying so many words. We didn't know if he would ever talk, but he is doing great and tries to say everything. Therapy has been an awesome treatment for him. Keelie is so very happy and has found a wonderful husband and some great in-laws. In February of 2004 my husband passed away of renal failure also along with having a heart attack while doing his dialysis. So I am a widow. I am trying to stay healthy and eating like I should, and live my life like I want to live it, having fun with my friends and family. Life is too precious to not go on and to give up. It means too much to me. I have a goal and purpose in life and it is to live it to my expectations and the way I want it. In January of 2006 I moved back to my hometown of Calhoun to be close to my family, and back to my roots. Guess this is where I was meant to be, it feels good to be back home. I hope to be back in touch with some of my old classmates soon and hear from you....
