Victor's Story
Classmates.com has suggested sharing some personal factoids. I see they are referring to the Q&A section, where there are multiple choicea offered. I was amused by the use of the word "factoids". The American Heritage Dictionary defines a factoid as: "A piece of unverified or inaccurate information that is presented in the press as factual, often as part of a publicity effort, and that is then accepted as true because of frequent repetition". That seems to give me a tremendous leeway in describing my personal history, but in this space I would rather just stick to plain facts, unrepeated, as uninteresting as they may be. In fact, I'd prefer to sum it all up in a few words, and spare the details. I am now 77 years old, and in retrospect, my life has been relatively happy and fortunate. hen I was a child, and as I knew nothing but that background, I took it for granted and enjoyed life. During the Korean Conflict, I joined the United States Air Force, and had the pleasure of serving in Okinawa, or, "The Rock". I was much luckier than those who fought in Korea, and my veterans' benefits allowed me to complete my college education. I wish today's veterans were treated with equal consideration. I married a wonderful woman, and gained three great stepchildren, two of whom are now parents themselves, and I have one very cute great-granddaughter, 7 years old. My wife and I both worked for the government, and also in the private sector. We are happily retired. I have had some wonderful friends, many who have passed away. So that's it in a nutshell, some bare facts, and no factoids. (Refer to the Q&A section for multiple choices.) The details might be more interesting, but that would take a book. If I were to write a book, I might include some factoids to spice it up.
