Victoria's Story

Victoria A. Moore, 82, of Chillicothe, OH, passed to be with our Lord and Savior on September 7, 2019 from an aggressive cancer. Victoria was born August 21, 1937 to parents Lincoln Mason and Donna Lee (Coberly) Mason. She was born in Springfield, Ohio, graduated from Springfield High School, Class of 1954, and from Ohio University, Summa Cum Laude. Victoria met her husband, Roger M. Moore, in high school. Known as the high school sweethearts, they were married September 27, 1958. Together they lived their lives dedicated to community service for 61 years. Victoria’s volunteerism included serving at Walnut Street United Methodist Church as a Youth Group Leader with Roger as well as in the Bell Choir. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rotary, American Association of University Women (AAUW), Business & Professional Women (BPW), and helped the Republican National Committee. Of course, wherever Roger was active, Victoria was in the background supporting his endeavors: S.A.L.T., Crime Stoppers, Rotary, and more. She was an exceptional Mother who lent a hand wherever and whenever needed for her daughter, Sheila, with dance recitals, music competitions, Order of Rainbow for Girls, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and making her formal gowns. She absolutely cherished her granddaughters, Xena and Athena Stearos, attending Bishop Flaget and helped them with their studies and altering their gowns, too. Her talents were many. She showed Belgian Sheepdogs winning Best of Breed in Chicago and Best of Show in Westminster NYC, was an accomplished Insurance Life Underwriter Fellow, Secondary Math Teacher, Piano Accompanist, Tax Instructor/ Manager, and Tailor. Her strengths were administration, management, organizational development, and entrepreneurship. She worked many places to accommodate her family’s needs. Some of those plac...Expand for more
es included Olan Mills, Mead Corporation, Wear Ever, Ross County Treasurer’s Office, The Chillicothe Gazette, R.C.I. and C.C. I., Union-Scioto Schools, Sears, the Social Security Administration, Moore & Moore Allstate Insurance Agency, Jackson Hewitt, H&R Block, and taught Math in area schools as well as insurance courses at Hondros College. Her beliefs were strong, and she had an opinion on everything. She firmly believed in separation of Church and State. “You can’t legislate morals!” she would say. At the same time, she inspired others to vote and become active in their community circles. From time to time, she recited lines from Grimm’s Fairy Tale Classics as well as from Alexander Pope, “We think our fathers fools, so wise we grow. Our wiser sons, no doubt will think us so.” To her family, she asked daily, “Have I told you I loved you today?” She is survived by her husband, Roger M. Moore, her daughter, Sheila Stearos (husband Jim), granddaughters Xena and Athena Stearos, her brothers and sisters: Stanley Dal Butler (wife Carolyn), Debbie Mason (wife of deceased brother John Mason), Nancy Ramsey (husband Ray), Colleen Mason-Morris (husband Allen), Roger Mason (wife Julie), cousin Rhea Jean Holsapple (husband Robert), and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Haller Funeral Home, Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 11:00 to 11:30am. Community members are welcome to attend. Guests are invited to join the family for calling hours from 11:30am until 1:00pm following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Adena Hospice, c/o Adena Health Foundation, 9 S Paint Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601, Lookup Roger and Sheila on FB to communicate.
