Victoria's Story
Life
Moved to upstate NY in 72, six months afterward moved to Salinas, CA and six months after that I immigrated to Perth, Australia. Married in '75 and returned a year or two later to the states. My husband was a Production Superintendent in the oil fields of Bakersfield, CA and I worked for Dept of Energy in the same field for 5 years. Really disliked the desert and moved back to NY again to settle in the Finger Lakes.
Divorced in '82 and continued to work for Dept of Defense until the military bases began to close.
Went back to school and finished my B.A. in Plant Sci at Cornell about 13 years ago. Have worked as the head gardener on a private estate since '97. Built a house in '05 and continue to work on it and my gardens. Free time is spent with friends as we all enjoy ...Expand for more
cooking and most of us have an interest in plants and garden design either professionally or as a hobby. We all seem to have purchased or built houses in the same time frame so we help each other out with projects.
The Finger Lakes are really beautiful and Ithaca is a diversified community. There is always something fun to do or a new restaurant to visit, so while winters are long, no one gets bored.
I hope I make it to the 2010 reunion this summer, but work is always busiest in the summer and I've started finishing the basement on top of everything else. Seems you can't leave the house alone with a contractor when work is being done or who knows what will happen while you're gone! If I don't make it, I hope everyone has a great time and is able to renew old friendships.
