Vince's Story

Life After high school, I spent six years on active duty in the Marine Corps. In 1994, I transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve so I could attend the University of Florida. I earned a BA (with honors) in Criminology in 1998 and became an officer with the St. Petersburg Police Department. I took flying lessons in 2003-04 and advanced as far as solo student pilot. My final flight was my long solo cross-country. I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps Reserve in 2004. I had a Sea Doo PWC from 2006-12 and took it out almost every weekend. I have an advanced open water scuba certification but have not been diving since 2007 (would like to get back into it). I have a 1971 Chevy Chevelle SS that I like to take to cruise nights and car shows. I live with my six year-old rescue dog, a black mouth cur mix named Bailey. Never married - no kids. Workplace I am an officer with the St. Petersburg Police Department (since 1999), currently assigned to the Uniform Service Bureau (patrol). I have also been a member of the honor guard since 2007. Military I reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC in July 1988. After 12 long weeks in recruit training, I graduated with a meritorious promotion to lance corporal (E-3). My next duty station was at Naval Air Station Memphis, TN for the avionics basic course. I graduated from that in May 1989 and was then ordered to NAS Jacksonville, FL to learn how to repair forward-looking infrared (FLIR) pods. I graduated from that school in...Expand for more
