Vincent's Story

Life I've been on this crazy quest for more degrees for a seeming eternity. Finally, I've found a career that allows me to help other people. I am living in York, PA, where I work as a therapist for a psychiatric hospital. You might say it's a case of the lunatics running the asylum. It's a great a job with a multitude of possibilities for a promising future. But that's the dry stuff. I have almost resigned myself to being a bachelor, but a bachelor with hope. I try not to dwell on the past, but some of my best times and friends can be found in my four years at WCU. I think I'd go back to those years in a heartbeat just to experience it all again and to be with my classmates in our quest for our degrees. So, if any of you great people happen upon my bio and get the urge to contact me, please do. I'd love to hear from you! I guarantee a response. School Ah, school. I was probably worthy of the title "least likely to succeed;" however, you were all very kind in not bestowing that honor upon me. I made efforts to become involved in a variety of activities, but was never able to completely throw myself into anything. Still, I think I made a great many friends along the way. Unfortunately, I have allowed most of those friendships to lapse with the passing of time. I miss you all because you gave me the most meaningful experiences that life could offer. From you, I gained perspective, appreciation of individual differences, and a love for education that has lasted me all these years. If I seemed a bit off kilter during school, it was because I had not yet been diagnosed with manic-depression and intermittent rage disorder. I apologize if these wild mood swings and fits of rage made any of you uncomfortable or afraid of me. That was never my desire. I loved you all for the undying support that you provided me when I ex...Expand for more
perienced these episodes. College I was famous (or even infamous) for my extracurricular research efforts at West Chester. I was feared at UVA for my wild mood swings; and I was excluded from York College and Penn State for my disabilities. Egad, I can't believe that my collegiate career has been so marred by my misteps and imorality. I am sorry for these character flaws and I apologize for never giving any of you the chance to truly be my friends. I have managed to finish two degrees and am in the process of completing a third; however, I have failed to experience the totality of collegiate life since I have not permitted anyone to peer within me to find out that I am really a very nice person. In return, I have not sought out anyone with whom I could develop a meaningful friendship. I am sorry for that as I have encountered a plethora of people with whom I should have worked on this. At West Chester, I sought out the company of young women without ever considering that they were individuals who deserved my respect and with whom I could find meaningful friendships. At UVA, I preyed upon my students, again avoiding getting to know their personalities; instead, I pounced upon them like a cat on a mouse. I apologize for these actions. I was not at York College long enough to become a nuisance; however, my experiences at Penn State have found me lost in my selfishness again. Here, though, I have fortunately made a few friends whom I love as such though I must admit that I have occasionally succumbed to the weakness of desire, confusing friendship for romantic attraction. Forgive me for these weaknesses, please. I hope to complete my collge education with studies at a seminary, whether towards entrance into the clergy or toward advanced degrees in religious studies has not yet been decided. I will, however, keep you posted.
