Vincent's Story

Life Greetings to all classmates. My wife recently added pictures and info to her page... so, I thought I would do the same. Life has been fine. I have been married for 5 years. We are planning on having kids.... they have not arrived, yet. I spent the majority of my life since high school playing music, and studying music. I taught music at a middle school for 10 years.... and just recently been offered a position at a new high school. I REALLY enjoy teaching. I have found that working with younger people is a good thing for me.... it has changed me in many ways......and I have found much success at being a teacher (I was awarded "Teacher of the Year in 2007). I still enjoy playing, as well. I live up in Shingle Springs right now on 2 acres. My wife is an avid equestrian... so, that makes me one as well. Riding horses with my wife has been a joy. I met my wife, Kim, through my band, 99Tales. Playing in a band with Kim has been great as well. This band has been an incredible journey... discussing that would be much too lengthy. I started this band with my best friend, James McKernon (you all know him as Jimmy Burreson). Jim and I lived together for many years.... he suffered from depression. Jim eventually left the band (that is when Kim joined)...unfortunately, Jimmy also left this world. As I type this... it was exactly 10 years ago that Jim decided the fight was over. I don't want to go into all this.... but, he tried. God bless him and keep him. Being that we are at "classmates"... I think it is appropriate that I mention this. (I am actually going to create a Jim Burreson pa...Expand for more
ge). I am involved in many things.... teaching music, playing music, working with "at risk" kids, I love reading, horses, dogs, the cats are just ok, can't wait to be a father, I am a Godfather, I have been playing the violin a lot lately, I play at church (mass), belong to a men's group, love movies, I am very fortunate for the many great friends I have around me..... as well as family.... I like the Oakland Raiders.... the Kings, uh.... I am sure I could talk on and on... I think this all will do. Oh... and I have recently built my own recording studio.... so, I am getting into this! College My college days were extremely memorable. I met some amazing people at San Francisco State.... however, I wasn't the best student. I did real well in my music classes... but, horrible in the rest. The "music scene" believe it or not... was bad in SF... and I packed my bags. I think I learned the most about "school" (studying, dedication, etc) at American River College. I had some amazing teachers as well. I finished things off at Sac State. I had an AMAZING composition teacher.... and got into composing. I composed a lot of music.... which helped in being a better musician and writer. But, I found my calling in working with the young. I took many master classes... and earned a teaching credential. I got hired right away out of college. It was a great experience. (and it was a new experience in receiving a "paycheck"..... ) Through college... I worked at Tower Books. I had a great time there. During college I mainly lived downtown with Jim and other friends. It was a very very special time in my life.
