epartment of the Interior. I retired as a historian in 2004; started writing alternate history in the "1632" history with Eric Flint from Baen Publishing. I've been active as a genealogist also.
Three children: Karl (Associate Circuit Judge, Scotland Co., MO); John (data base manager, Friends of the National Zoo); Josephine (clinical psychologist, Veterans Administration, Salem, VA). All three married. Five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.
