Vivian's Story
Life
I can still remember my address and phone number when I lived in Concord from 1957 to 1966. It was a great neighborhood, we used to climb over our backyard fence and play in the creek, catching little crayfish. I had a lot of fun living on Cobblestone Drive. If you are reading this and recognize Cobblestone Drive let me know who you are, send me a message. I moved to Santa Clara in the summer of 1966. I started 7th grade at Jefferson Junior High School and met Viola Hernandez or Gwen, who immediately became my long time best friend. I also met Linda Cady, Regina Dimena, Rory, Holly, and othes. My first boyfriend was Phillip Friend we "went steady" for a few mos until I met and fell in love with Richard Machado. We stayed together until our Sophmore year then the break-up happened. I felt like I never cried so hard in my life. My friends got me through it with all their stories and advice. The news traveled fast because before I knew it there were a lot of guys hanging around us but I didn't accept any dates. I went to a few parties ...Expand for more
and played spin the bottle and got to kiss some really cute guys. Then one day at school my friend Carla Story told me that someone wanted to meet me and he was a friend of her brother's named Albert Gil, so I said sure. She told me he was kind of shy but really nice and good looking and he was a football player a wrestler and weight lifter. I remember being so excited and nervous to meet him and I didn't even think of any of my friends. Anyway, I was going to meet him during PE class which happened to be Square Dancing time for the week. Well for me it was LOVE at first glance from across the gym floor and
after we met we were "an item" for the rest of high school, he graduated in 70, and for 8 more yrs. He finally asked me to marry him in 1979 and I remember shopping for the rings, I was so happy. Then we had to break-up. You really never forget your first love. During all that time we were together I went to The Bryman School after Wilcox and became a certified Medical Assistant and was hired during my internship with Dr. Martin Krinsky.
