Vivian's Story
Directly out of high school in 1968, I moved with my family to Kansas City, Missouri because my father retired from the Army and had obtained a job at Bendix Corporation. Instead of following my dreams of becoming a doctor, I worked right out of high school at the same place my dad worked until January of 1969 when I married my first husband.
We moved to Brookhaven, Pennsylvania and had two children. This is the area he was born and raised and his job was here. We divorced in 1973 and I remarried in June of 1979 to a wonderful man who adopted my two children as his.
We moved to Morton, Pennsylvania where we built a home and our lives and built our vacation home in the Poconos where we eventually retired in 2004. Our two kids went on to college, married, and had children of their own.
We now have four grand children. We have three grand daughters and one grand son. Two grand daughters (from our daughter) are ages 13 and 14 and the other two grand children, (our grand son) is 3 and our third grand daughter is a year and a half. Our son lives in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and our daughter lives in Middletown, Delaware.
Currently, my husband and I just enjoy living our lives with our family, babysitting (a lot of driving back and forth), traveling, we've almost seen all of the states in the United States, and been to Hawaii three times, the Caribbean many times, Mexico many times. We are involved with our development and functions to keep a development running smo...Expand for more
othly. We visit my siblings that live all over the country.
We had the opportunity to drive out to the southwest last year and see a number of areas that my father had been based while he was in the military and places my husband had never seen before.
I would like to see how many people, if any, from my class ever made it to the east coast and what they are up to in their lives.
Since the first edition of my story my husband and I have continued to travel and see this world we live in. We have enjoyed our daily living being retired, traveling, meeting new folks, seeing old friends, visiting family members we have not seen in a very long time. We have lost some very dear friends and family over the past few years and this has been an eye opener on our ages and what we still want to accomplish while we are here on this earth. I urge all that read this - the important thing I've learned since high school is that graduation is not the most important day of your life, gettnig married is not the most important day of your life, having children is not the most important day of your life. It is what we make of each and every day - may it be with someone we love or just on our own, but learning that loving the world we live in is really important and giving back to those that are less fortunate is the most important day(s) and sharing with those we love and letting them know they are loved and that life goes on even when we don't. God Bless and keep this world a better place.
