Robert's Story
Life
After school I raced BMX that Summer and I was NBL national #9 in the age 16-24 cruiser class. I went to Univ. of MD and got bachelor's degrees in Geography and Computer Science. I eventually moved to Chicago and married Monique from Winnepeg UBF (University Bible Fellowship). Going to school in the first few semesters was very trying for various reasons: had to give up competitive bike racing, had a roommate that was a drug dealer, UM Calculus was a lot harder than Mr. Balliet's class, there were long waits just to use 2400 baud computer terminals and decwriters, and a sinus infection that wouldn't go away which required surgery--all this while living on Hagerstown 4 dorm otherwise known as "The Psycho Ward." ood purpose and through this I was humble enough to accept an invitation to Bible study and knowing Jesus really made a big change in my life: i.e. I not only graduated from Geography, but also CS, and a Master's degree. Even though I am not a great evangelist, it is only by God's grace through Jesus that I could avoid plunging further into the sinful nature. When I was at G-burg I was not much of a blessing, even though I got to take Heidi Straiter to the Homecoming prom and I was at a loss at what to do and could barely talk to her when I saw her in the hall. If it wasn't for Erin Cermak and Kathleen Becker's prodding, I would not have even gone to the prom. Looking back at the yearbook is like looking at a fairytale. Every one looks gorgeous. How could I have been so unthankful??? I live in Chicago and as of May 2001 have 2 boys ages 10 and 6.
