Wade's Story
I went to UConn after high school. I struggled for the first few years because I never learned to study at old Rippowam (One of the things I should have done in high school!!!). But I made it through and met my wife Barbara there in 1970. A mutual friend of Barbara’s at UConn invited her up from Fordham for a weekend. After asking many people, I was the date of last resort. I made the best of it and we are still married today.
Barbara and I have two children and one granddaughter. Ben lives in Brooklyn and is a software guy. Amy lives in Midland, Texas and is a Nurse Practitioner. They get their intelligence from Barbara and their height from me. They do not hold it against me.
I worked for Philips Medical Systems (an imaging company) for 33 years. I started in finance but the company moved me to sales/marketing quickly. They felt the inability to add or to tell the truth was more suited for sales than finance. These are sometimes big adva...Expand for more
ntages in sales. I worked in Connecticut, New York, and Chicago and finally ended up in Seattle. We are still in Seattle area after retirement of about 10 years.
Barb went back to school at 38 when the children were older. She spent three years full time and I learned how to vacuum and clean bathrooms. I thought I was scared of her before she went back to school. She became a divorce lawyer and then I really knew what scared was.
The only unpredictable thing about me turned out to be art. With the travel in my job, I had a lot of dead time. Bars everywhere were about the same as Port Chester so I started to go to museums. I started to paint as a hobby and still try. You have to be dead to make a living at art so I stuck to sales/marketing. Standards were much lower.
