Larry's Story

Janet ask me a while back to write a little story and let everyone know what I've been up to. So here it is. Let me start by saying that I have three beautiful daughters, nine grandchildren (eight grandsons and one granddaughter) and one great grandson (2 months old). I started high school at Phoenix Union, Mike, Bob, Marcus and myself. Bob met a girl form East in our sophomore year and talked the rest of us to transfer to east so he could go to school with his new love.I personally didn't think it was a good idea, since a very beautiful girl who was going to East had broken my heart the year before and I still hadn't gotten over it. But in the end I transferred. I started dating someone later on, and to make this short, we had daughter born in March of 1970. Our relationship didn't last, and on June 30th I enlisted in the army. I mean, what was the big deal, I was going to be drafted anyway. So off I went to Ft Lewis Washington for 8 weeks of basic training. I ran into a few friends from Phoenix and East there. After basic came Advanced individual training for another 8 weeks, and then to Ft Benning for airborne training, just four weeks there. I finally ended up at FT Bragg, my permanent duty station with the 47th engineer battalion combat airborne. Later I reenlisted and joined the military police since my plan was to return to phoenix ...Expand for more
and join the police force back home. Funny how things can change. I met my first wife, she was an army brat and when my time was up, I reenlisted again and went to Ft Carson. That's how I ended up living here in Colorado Springs. I eventually did a tour in Korea and 3 years at Ft Knox Kentucky. I eventually left the army in December 1979. My wife and I moved back to Colorado Springs in 1981 and divorced in 1984. I was single for four years and happier than a frog in a pond. It was then that my friends introduced me to someone and I ended up married again. Long story short, my second marriage lasted 11 years. I don't know what it is about 11 years, but it's as long as marriage lasts for me. Must be something wrong with me. Anyway, I've been single this time for about 14 years. For the last 13 years I've been in the financial services industry as an insurance agent, and for the last 4 years I've been an independent producer and hope to incorporate next year. I would like to come back home and get together with everyone. I haven't been back home since 1977. A high school get together would be very nice. So that is my life since high school. Do I have any regrets? Yes I do. Would I do anything different? I would. All in all, I'm a happy fat man. Not so fat anymore. So far this year I've lost 40 pounds. Down from 271 to 231 and 31 to go.
