Wally's Story
Life
Hello everyone. I can tell you it's fun to have grand-kids, I'm on my second (update: 6th). I live in Salem, played softball in the local league (our team is the Warriors!) until we lost our sponor. Volunteered for youth on a leadership training course, and have been managing Information Technology staff since 1989. Worked in Germany, the Caribbean, Alaska, Washington D.C., Portland, Alameda and San Francisco in California. I like it best here in Oregon - I'm a webfoot.
I've really enjoyed my career since I got into "computers" back in 1984.
The turning point for me was joining the Army in 1975. I went from boy to man. Flying cover for Vice-presidents Rockefeller and Mondale in Berlin, Germany during the mid-70s gave me a thrill. Cancer gave me a scare in 1992. I started working for the Government in 1999. I went to the Graduate School of Management at Willamette University...Expand for more
to get my Certificate in Public Management. Along the way I married a computer system analyst but we rarely talk tech at home. Somewhere along the way, I learned what it meant to stop and smell the roses.
We raised 3 great kids, two became Eagle Scouts, all went to college, one is a aerospace engineer (drones!). The second is a full time mom, wife, employee and part time student. The third and youngest went to Hawaii for a summer college job and decided to stay, got married and has his Captain and First Mate license. He came back to Washington to work on the ferry. abd is now in line to be a Ferry Capitain.
Reired now and spend a lot of my time in wonderful little Historic Hammond. Helping with the Warrenton Historical Society too.
I hope this little update finds you well, happy and prosperous. I enjoyed seeing many of you at the reunion years ago - it was fun. On you Warriors!
