Walter's Story

Hi! This is Walter's wife, Kathy, writing a little something about Walter's life since high school. I know that he's worked for CETA, he worked for the Calif. Conservation Corp in Pomona and the Calif. Rice Co-op in Princeton. He then came back home and started working at lumber and moulding mills such as Cal Oak, Feather River Moulding, Pacific Laminating, Lousiana Pacific until all those company's went out of business. He worked for Setzer Forest Products here in Oroville as a Finger Jointer until he injured his back on the job March 3 2004. He worked for 2 years in pain until he couldn't take it much more, so he re-opened his work comp case in 2006 and fought real hard to get the medical care he needed. Finally we decided to get him a lawyer and nurse case manager to fight his case and we're now in the settlement discussions. He "retired" from Setzer officially in November 2006, had 2 back surgerys in November 2007. He'll never be able to work hard physical labor again. He's got multi-level low back injuries that will never get better; he's still in as much pain as he was before surgery. He takes it day-by-day with pain control management. As far as family life goes~he doesn't remember much about his dad being in his life as a child, but he finally found him again in the middle 90's. They spent as much time as they could to make up for lost time. They did alot of different things together like fishing, Christmas shopping, and going to car races at Marysville Speedway. Unfortunetely his dad had a heart attack on July 4th 2000, lived in a coma for 10 days and passed away on that 10th day. From what I knew of him, he was the sweetest, kindest man you'd ever want to be friends with. ~*RIP Pops*~ Walter and Kathy's Love Story: Walter and I ...Expand for more
were set up on a blind date. I lived in Yuba City and worked at Rideout Memorial Hospital at the time with a lady (Doris) that used to diaper Walter's butt. We both had just came out of a bad relationship so we were both kind of leary of starting over again. We talked for the first time on October 7, 1998, we met for coffee at 6am (after I got off work) on October 10th, 1998, we spent 21 hours together that day and talked about everything and I mean EVERYTHING!!! It was like we'd known each other for years!!! Before he left for home (2 hours before he had to be at work!) he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes. People say "Wow you really rushed into it" and all we can say is~ When you know in your heart it's right, THEN IT'S RIGHT. So, since my schedule at work was hectic, we decided on October 24, 1998 to start the rest of our lives together. Since this plan of getting married came up so soon for both our families, we drove to Reno and stood before the Commissioner of Civil Marriages and said our vows ~ just him and I. And that's our love story. We just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary October 24th 2008. We lived in Yuba City for 1 year, then moved back to Oroville and have been here every since. As long as his mother is still alive, we'll still live in Oroville. He's my best friend and definetely the love of my life!! That's Walter's life as I know it. If you want to drop him a line, do so on his bulletin board since I check this website regularly because I'm registered for the Class of 1977 of Yuba City High School or you can email him at wkbrun1098 at yahoo dot com. (this darn site doesn't let you type a website or emaill address normally~go figure!~!) Take care and God bless. ~SMILE~ it gives your face something to do!!!
