Walter's Story

After graduation, I entered Marine Corps recruit training at MCRD San Diego Aug 19, 1987. Upon graduation, I went to Ft. Lee VA for training and then stationed at MCB Camp Pendleton from 1988-90. During that time, I traveled to MCB 29 Palms CA and Thailand. In June 1990 I moved to Okinawa Japan MCB Camp Hansen; and in 1991 traveled back to MCB Camp Pendleton. In 1992 I was assigned to NAS Millington and I also married my wife Amy. Amy is from the Philippines. Also in 92 my eldest daughter Lori was born, and we moved to NC and was stationed at MCAS New River. eria. Also during this time my second daughter Leeza was born. In 1997 we transferred to NAS Jacksonville Fl and I was on instructor duty. During this time I also attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and was awarded my Bachelors of Science degree. In 2001 we moved again to Okinawa Japan and I was on the inspection team for 1st Marine Air Wing. In 2004 we transferred back to NC and was assigned to MCAS Cherry Point. During this time I was awarded my Masters of Arts degree from St. Josephs college. In 2007 I retired from the Marine Corps after 20 years of service. I currently work for Craven Community College as the Executive Director of Operations for the Havelock-Cherry Point Campus.
