Wanda's Story
Life
After all these years, I am pretty much the same. Not exactly the same quiet and innocent one I used to be anymore..lol I've was divorced about 21 years and remarried about a year ago in December 2008. Was married twice before so this is the last one.... first one was short but not so sweet and the second for about 10 years and gave me my one and only son who was the highlight of my life and my constant companion from age 4. He now has blessed me with twin grandsons . They are the joy of my life and keep me sane ( unless you don't count the times I had to babysit them all by myself...lol) I have worked At Erlanger Medical Center since 1975...wow! A lifetime. My life has had a lot of ups and downs but I've survived so far. I stay in touch with several classmates and would like to hear from any of you that would like to write me . I had a ball being able to contact most of you for the last reunion. Some of you were hard to find but I did it and enjoyed every minute talking to all you. Don't make it so hard on me next time and let me know if you move....lol My mind may not be as sharp next time to be a good bloodhound...lol As for fun, we occasionally ride motorcycles and loved every minute of it when we get to go. Would like to have some good friends to ride with. and yeah I do own a leather jacket...lol What happened to that quiet shy Wanda...lol Also spend time camping and like to travel when we can find the time. School
Well for my biggest crush....mmmmm Most people knew who that was but I will let you go back and ponder on that bit of the past for you to figure out but he married one of my best girlfriends I had since the first grade...lol Mrs. Townes was a big influence in my life along with the great Miss Owens.... she allowed me to keep my Beta Club awards sash from graduation instead of turning it back in and I still have it...whoooopps...guess I'm in trouble now...lol In high school I spent a lot of time trying to be the little sister that kept Alan Bailey and Fred Shirley out of a lot of trouble....what a job! And it still doesn't work to this day--haha I worked in the office my senior year and this is one of my most memorable moments.... I had to escort Fred back to class and of course he was horseplaying in the hall on the way back and kicked over a mop that proceeded to strike me in the eye...thanks Fred... I was the only one graduating with a big black eye....lol For class night, I received as my gift a small plastic baseball bat with the note still attached to this day (yes I still have it just in case of revenge...lol) . I am holding onto it for future injuries..lol Maybe I will bring it to the next reunion for backup if needed...lol The quiet, shy , innocent Wanda is in the past so watch out... mmmmm I made a lot of good close friends during those years and am so blessed to be able to still be in touch with many of them. I asked Alan Bailey a couple years ago why they even hung around a nerd like me so much....lol He laughed and said to keep him out of trouble of course and do his homework..thanks--haha I still look out for him now when I can. Actually not many knew that he was like the brother I never had and we still are pretty close today and keep in touch. Thanks to all of you for so many wonderful years and adventures.
College
I went into a Radiology program at Chattanooga State right after graduation until 1975 receiving my training and certification and returned to college to receive my Associates Degree in Radiology in 1978. For the past several years I have been doing Ultrasound and yet again took courses to receive my certificate in that field in 2004-5 in order to get my state credentials for Ultrasonograpy. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks but believe me it was so much harder at this age. I did very well keeping up with the young crowd and got one of the 2 awards in the class for highest grades and most work achieved. Way to go old lady...lol I was more than a little proud of that accomplishment. Hopefully I am finished with school for the rest of my life....lol but you never know.
Workplace
The only real job I've ever had has been at Erlanger Medical Center since 1975. I have done almost every form of Radiology that you might think of and now experienced in ultrasound...lol Seen it all and done it all pretty much. In April 2006, I will be awarded my 30 year pin , certificate and gifts for my years of service and achievements. Guess I'm a little proud of those accomplishments also. Don't know any other work so guess I will continue to hang out there until I retire or they push me out...lol
Military
No military experience for me unless you can count working for a straight laced coronel from the airforce that was our head Radiologist at Erlanger for years but we spent a lot of good years getting to know each other well and became close friends. He could be hard nosed at times but we never had a problem with each other and he passed away several years ago and is deeply missed by me and some others. He taught me a lot about self esteem and how to be a stronger person and will be greatly remembered by me and missed.
