Warren's Story
Warren is from Washington, District of Columbia. Warren's schools include South Side High School. Now a happy grandpa, Warren Belasco grew up just a few miles north of the site of his wife Amy’s grandfather’s Long Beach butcher shop. For college he ventured Out West to the University of Michigan because he wanted to play in the UM Marching Band. He made the band, but then he met Amy. o convince the University of Maryland, Baltimore County to hire him to teach courses on American popular culture. A specialist in media studies and food history, he enjoyed scaring his students with graphic tales of exploitation, adulteration, imitation, appropriation, and contamination. After 32 years he had successfully ruined everyone’s dinner and was paroled to the Belasco home in Washington DC, where he tends his figs and vines, writes family history, and hums Late Victorian military band tunes and random do wop songs to his granddaughter Maeve.
