Military
I came aboard Piedmont in late 1956. I was assigned to the 1st Division. When I made seaman I transferred to operations and was assigned to signalman duty as a striker. When they had an extra Quartermaster test for 3rd class I was asked if I wanted to take it. I did and became a QM3. When not at sea I usually stood signal watch. I was a signal...Expand for more
man for COMCRUDESPAC when we had the flag aboard. I was on two cruises to Westpac 1957, and 1958. The 1958 cruise saw me doing mostly quartermaster work.
I have been to several Piedmont reunions and look forward to the next one this Oct. I hope we can add many of you to our list of former Piedmont sailors. If you want to be added please let me know.
