Wayne's Story
I did not participate in any High School activities. Most will remember I raced moto-x and devoted most of my spare time to that sport. Within 30 days after graduation, I attended East Coast Aero Tech to receive my aviation technician license. After graduating in May 1981 I worked in Vero Beach Florida for Flight Safety. Came back to Connecticut in late 1981 to work at KAMAN Aerospace. In 1984 I received a position at United Airlines in San Francisco. It was a sad day when I had to sell my beautiful 1968 Camaro. After beginning a real career I realized there was no way to afford northern California so I transferred to Denver, Colorado in late 1985. And yes I missed the muscle cars so 6 months before leaving San Fransisco I purchased a 1969 Corvette. Purchased my first home in January 1988 and the very next day bought a new Chevy 4X4. (still own it today and is in great condition). January 12, 1990 I met my best friend and wife after leaving the airport from work. We got married on July 1, 1991. In November of 2011 we re-newed our vows on the beaches of Cancun and this past July celebrated our 25th anniversary. We have one married son and 1 grand daughter seen in the photo. Justin is an 8 year active veteran of the Air Force and has his Associates degree in Digital Media Technology.
After getting married in 1991 we purchased our second home in Colorado. In the fall of 1994 we all moved to just south of Indianapolis, Indiana. There we built our next home and lived for the following 19 years.
After the closing of United Airline's maintenance facility in 2004 (Indianapolis), I began a long journey of commuting to remain in my field of work I love so much. I traveled each week to and from Indianapolis to first , Chicago, then to Denver (my second go a round), and finally to Houston, Tex...Expand for more
as.
In the autumn of 2013 we sold our Indiana home. My wife and I moved to Texas. After purchasing a piece of land, we began to build our current home on Lake Conroe in Montgomery,Texas.
I just celebrated my 38th year at United Airlines (I am now in management for aircraft maintenance)and couldn't be happier both with my career and my marriage.
OK so now the extras.
I continued to be involved on motorcycle dirt racing,, participating well into my thirties and did real good.
Today I have traded in 2 wheel's for a 2015 Yamaha 700 Raptor 4 wheeler. I sold my street bike in Indiana and may never ride on the street again, especially here in Texas where there aren't any road rules. Life is too precious.
The muscle cars are also still part of my life and sold the POS vette for a 1969 Camaro which I still own.
From 1990 to 1994, on my days off and partial vacations I was part of AMA Superbike roadracing. I was hired by a team out of Boulder Colorado and wrenched with them for 4 full years both at the shop and at the tracks across North America. What an experience.
And yes of course my career has one of the best benefits available. If there is an open seat on a flight then an employee can sit in it. Since 1994 myself and my wife have filled 1 regular and one double passport. We are on our second double passport. That is just international flying.
We have visited China at least 9 times to different cities, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Thailand, 6 islands in the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Colombia, Belize,Panama,Honduras, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and of course Hawaii and Mexico.
Jennifer and I love life, family, our fresh water toys (Sea Doo's) and the new Carver Sport Sedan we recently purchased for ocean day trips based out of Seabrook, Texas.
I wouldn't change a thing....
