Wayne's Story
Life
On graduation day, Ava Mckinney and myself gave speeches since we were Valedictorian(me) and Salutorian(Ava) of our class. Since h.s., I went into the Air Force for almost four years, got out and my life was going down the drain until my mother encouraged me to go to college. I did and graduated with a B.S. degree. I am now pursuing my Masters degree(that is the plan anyhow). The teacher that influenced me the most is Ms. Lacroix and Mr. Woods. My mentor was Marvin Devereaux and I am glad he was there. Mrs. PlentyCoose was a good dorm matron and a very nice lady. My best friend was Anson Redstar whom always used to compete against me. We were always arguing who was the best runner in track and x-country. It was great that Anson and I took our team to State twice in X-Country(1985 & 1986). We did not place at the top but it proved to the rest of the high schools ...Expand for more
that we were good runners. Plus, in Districts, it was nice to see all of us(7) come in one right after another at the finish line. I give thanks to Marvin Devereaux for coaching us so well. I learned how to ski at Chemewa and the fun part of that, I was able to go night-skiing at Mt. Angel. I am currently working back here at the Fort Belknap reservation. I work at Fort Belknap College as the financial aid director and I have been here for 3 years. I enjoy my work and I think it is great when any natives further their education. I have put on a lot of weight since high school but not overly fat. I enjoy traveling the most and is my biggest hobby to date. Not married, still single, and I have one daughter, Chareis Windels(5yrs. old), currently in kindergarten. I am doing quite well and had to delay my goal of getting my masters degree but I do still plan to get it.
