Wayne's Story

I moved to Miami to go to the University of Miami, after graduating I never left, I felt I had found a home here in Miami and never left. I have several areas of interest, I started showing dogs when I was 12 and still do. The only thing that has changed are the breeds. I used to show cockers now I show Japanese Chins. I trained as a psychologist at the U of M, but worked as a corp health care exec for many years. I retired in 1995. I had reached a point that I no longer enjoyed what I was doing. My intent was to take a year off, and well, here we are..... I have really gotten a kick out of this site. I have reconnected with old friends, folks I haven't even thought of in years. strolling through here I found Joe Harris, contacted him, and now we see each other at least a couple of times a year. Joe is a great guy, there is still hope that someday he will represent Lafayette in Washington as your congressman! He would make a great one. My wife Carol and I were friends in HS, we didn't date till later. We went off to school together. She the smart one one went the MBA route, I went the way of a psychologist. Money wasn't important to me. lol Remember those days. We were married for over 25 years. Carol was a victim of RA, she was one of the strongest person I ever knew. Her life was plagued with pain, though she never complained, and always had a smile She was very successful, in 1992 she was invited to be part of the White House team with Cissnaro. tunately due to the RA she had to decline. It was really hard because I know how important that was for her.. My wife died in 2000 and I have lived alone since. Just me and the house mutts. I had run into an ole friend who caught me up on some of the old teachers at Jeff, there were a couple that were real stand outs, and some that frankly should have been thrown out. lol A few years ago, I was interviewing a psychologist for a position we had open. As I went through his CV, I saw he had attended Jeff. His name was Greg Lechlightner. Of course he got the Job. Greg is a real good guy, his wife a wonderful woman, is now one of the SR editors at people magazine. I had to laugh when I saw this section, dressing like you did 10 or 20 years ago. Nobody does that! However, when I was working I lived in a suit. Now, I don't even dress to go to a funeral. I live in a pair of Jeans and T-shirt. Trophies, probably the biggest thing I am most proud of was as a kid one of my aspirations was to go BIS in NY with my dogs. Now I have done it with two different dogs. In fact two of my cockers are among the top winning dogs of all time. I have especially enjoyed this site, because I no longer live in Indiana, and it gives me a real sense of nostalgia seeing some of these names on here. HS was a kick for me, I hated school at the time, but had a great time. I do try to make it back to good old Indiana at least once or twice a year. Feel free to drop a line and say hello Wayne
