Life
Married to Loma Janney-Cooksey, 52 yrs. Two Dau. Donna & Robbin, Three Gran daughters. Erin/22, Mallory/14,& Kelsi 6. Retired from the U.S.A.F on 01 SEP 76. Auburn Graduate. Returned to Auburn to secure a teaching certificate and advanced degree after 20 years in the Air Force. Teacher/Coach, School Administrator. Retired from Opelika City School System 01 AUG 99. Loma Retired From The Social Security Administration on 01 FEB 00. Have been taking trips as often as we can. Been to Europe 3 times, cruise to Alaska & Mexico. 3 week trip to New England. Many short trips to Florida and Charleston, S.C. Belong to ballroom dance club, Auburn University Club, and Deacon in our church. Made another trip to New England in fall of 2002 for 2 weeks. Play Golf three times a week and work out at the gym two days. September 2005 Loma and I took a 2 week trip to California. We visited Los Angele's, Hollywood, Bel Air, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, Monetary & Venture. We also had the great pleasure to visit the Ronald Reagen Library. Went to Los Vegas for 3 days and saw a great show. The last leg of the trip took us to San Francisco. Crossed the Golden Gate bridge going in and the Oakland Bay double deck bridge going out. In between we saw the Great Red Wood forest, China town, Fisherman Warf, Knob Hill, Telegraph Hill, and drove down the winding Lombard street. The trip would not be complete without riding the famous Cable Cars which we did often. 02 OCT 05 Wayne
In may 2006 Loma and I took a 5,500 mile 21 day trip out west. What beautiful country. Will write more later about this trip. We just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Had a great party. We had over 60 people in our home for this event. Great friends and family celebrated with us for the evening. I had Bypass (5) surgery on 1MAY07 Made a remarkable recovery. e in cardiac rehab. We completed that in record time. During the summer we regained our strength and scheduled another trip to Germany. We spent 2 weeks at Garmisch an Armed Forces Recreation resort. We took day trips to several other German cities and some in Austria and Switzerland. Took our 5 year old to Disney World in September. That solved the mystery as to the fact that we had regained our health!! Workplace
U.S. Air Force From 1956- 1976 Worked for Veteran Admin for 3 years 1977- 1980. Started teaching in 1980 at Auburn City schools. Retired in 1999 From Opelika City school sys. Was a Teacher,Coach,Principal,And Central office Administrator. 18 JUL 11 update. At this point Loma and I both are not quite as frisky as we were a while back. We are still active as we can be at Church and with friends. Golf has fallen off but get out now and then for a 9 hole round with my friend Fred Hadaway. I am president of my Sunday School class and that keeps me and Loma busy too. We are in the process of doing a reunion for our old Junior High School at Fairfax, Alabama and looking forward to seeing many old friends on 17 SEP 11 when this occurs.
Loma and I took our Daughter Robbin and Great Grand Daughter Kelsi out West on a 5600 mile trip and covered 16 states. We went to St. Louie, Mo.,Colorado Springs and the Air Force Academy, Cheyenne, WY, Yellowstone National Park, Salt Lake City, UT, Bryce's Canyon, The Grand Canyon, Albuquerque, N. M., Amarillo, Tex.,Dallas/Ft. Worth, Shreveport, La., Vicksburg, Mi., and then home. 3 weeks later me Kelsi and Loma went to Charleston, S.C., to visit our daughter Donna and family for a week. Kelsi who lives with us has been very busy this summer in addition to our travels. She ha done some reading classes, Tennis camp, and 2 week of camp with the Auburn recreation department. I think we still may have time for a few days at the beach in Panama City before school starts back.
