Wayne's Story
After graduating from Lafayette HS in 1972, I enrolled in Kingsborough CC to study business administration. But things did not work out there. I sensed a need for God in my life and that I could not go on without Him. There were things that I was beginning to realize as I moved into adulthood. I was raised in the Jewish religion, but by the end of high school I read that Jesus is the Messiah of Israel. At the start of 1975, I realized that I could not hide behind my heritage and I gave my life to Jesus. I am member of a Messianic congregation in Brooklyn.
I spent a short time with the military. Afterwards, I worked with the Salvation Army for three years. For fifteen years, I did office work and retail. During that time, I also studied for the...Expand for more
ministry.
Since 1993, I have been working for Teen Challenge, a ministry to people with life controling issues. Teen Challenge was started in 1958 when a preacher from Pennsylvania came to Brooklyn to reach street gangs. Now the ministry has facilities all over the world and reaches people of all age groups.
I work with the men's progran as a teacher and mentor. I also work with a GED program to help students and staff who are looking for more opportunities.
I am a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God and I have applied for ordination. I am also looking to obtain a bachelor's degree in BIble and theology so that I can teach in local BIble schools.
At present, I am in transition looking for new opportunities outside of Teen Challenge.
