Wayne's Story
It was a dark and stormy night and I was born at a very young age and before I knew it, I was at the old Dupont Elementary. Onward from there to Mallonee and then to the new HHS with my classmates.
June 1973 came quickly and then on to the world of work and started going by the name Wayne instead of Dewaine...hated that name! A marriage, a series of jobs and one child before settling in at ICI/Dupont in January of 1980 through today. Several of our classmates have worked here and a handful of us remain. A second child and then a second marriage...I'm sure I'm not the only one who has traveled that road.
A spiritual awakening in the spring of 1998 brought me into relationship with Jesus and I follow and serve Him faithfully today.
God has blessed both me and my wife Jan with good health and good fitness and we are active and love the outdoors. She loves the beach and likes the mountains, the opposite goes for me but we work it out - we go where she says! cars and of course Oktoberfest. Munich is a fabulous city and so is Toronto. Still go to Virginia Beach for day trips and Baltimore for whatever. I love my lizards (crested Geckos) Hansel and Gretel and the B-17 bomber of WWll . My bike always whispers to me from the garage "can you come out and play?" Two grandkiddies get my attention as well as my heart. My older son is a chef and we enjoy the meals, and price, that he often offers us. My younger son has been an object of my affection, hopes and prayers.
As the birthday candles continue to add up I do look forward to retirement. No lawn chair or goofy senior trips for me as I hope to be active in ministry. And I think Lexington would be a great place to do just that!
I hope you have enjoyed reading my story. For the most part it has been regular and routine and though I would have done a few things differently had I known, I can still say it is well with my soul.
My friend, I close by saying PEACE, BLESSING AND JOY! to you and your family. God bless you always...Wayne Gross
