Wayne's Story
Life
Here is a brief biographical sketch of my life since graduation from MHS:
Attended LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas for 4 years, graduating in April 1965 with an AS & BS degree in Electrical Technology. Was married the day after graduation (May 1) to Barbara Joy Droppa, and started working for the General Electric Co. 3 weeks later in Schenectady, New York. Completed training assignments for electrical field engineering in Schenectady and Philadelphia, Penna. Was assigned a permanent field engineering position in GE's Buffalo, New York office in July 1966. Worked in the Buffalo area until November 1975, when I accepted a field engineering position in GE's Large Power Transformer Dept. in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Lived and worked in Pittsfield until GE closed the plant in 1987 and I took a voluntary layoff after 22+ years. Moved to our present home in Milford, Mass. in the summer of 1987, and started working for the Doble Engineering Co. in Watertown, Mass as a Principal Engineer. Doble makes high voltage test equipment for the utility industry. That job was good until 1987 when I started working ...Expand for more
for the Parsons Brinckerhoff Co. in Boston as a Senior Startup Engineer on the Central Artery Tunnel Project, also known as the "Big Dig". Parsons Brinckerhoff is a traditional consulting engineering company headquartered in New York City. I am still with PB (Parsons Brinckerhoff), but transfered off the Big Dig project to their PB Power Division in May 2001, where they had an urgent need for electrical engineers with solid field experience in design, installation, and construction practices. I have been working in Wallingford, Connecticut since April 2001, where we have just about completed a 250 MegaWatt peaking power plant for the New England electrical grid. Barbara and I have 3 boys, who are all maried now, and one darling grand daughter. Updated January 9, 2002. Resumed flight training after a 40 year interruption, and obtained a private pilot certificate in September 2003. My initial flying lessons were at Totowa-Wayne Airport in the summer of 1961 about two weeks after HS graduation, and I continued to fly until June 1963. We now have two grandaughters and one grandson. Updated November 30, 2004.
