Wayne's Story
Life
Life has been great at times and also has had some rough times like everyone else. After school I got married in "62 went into the Corning Glass Works. I worked there for about 5 years doing everything from labor to inspection to glass grinding. During a period of lay-off I went to Ingersol Rand as a machine operator and worked in Valve and Regulator oppsite Eugene Storms, another class mate, for about 5 years. I wanted to be on the outside so I left the Rand and went to work construction. Worked for the Town of Caton for a couple of years for my father-in-law, Sylvester (Buster) Riley. After the '72 flood, I Left there and went to work for Kottwitz Construction Ltd. for another 7 years. When that business closed down I went to w...Expand for more
ork for B & W Contractors in Pine City for about 5 years. After they filed for bankruptcy, I went to work for Decker Inc building bridges. I became the Field Forman installing bridges and traveled all over eastern United States as far west as Iowa and south to North Carolina. I enjoyed this very much being outside, traveling and meeting new people all over the country. I did this for 20 years until I retired in 2003. I still work for them on occasion just to keep active. I can't just sit home after traveling all those years. My first marraige, after 4 kids, ended in divorce in 1984. Married again in 1995 and divorced in 2001 and been free every since. I am back in my home town of Caton NY where I will probably spend the rest of my life.
