Wayne's Story
Life
After Austin High School, I went to The University of Illinois at Chicago and received a BA in Political Science. I graduated on 8 Dec. 72 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry. I married Sandra Rosario (Austin--class of '70) on the 9th of Dec. and reported to Fort Benning on the 11th!! My military career spanned Vietnam to the Persian Gulf War. In the 1980's the Army decided I was suited for the desert and I was sent for a tour of duty with the Israeli Defense Force. After that, if there was a piece of sand that the Army wanted to see, guess who got to go? I got tired of picking sand out of my shorts and retired from the Service in 1993. Along the way I picked up Master Degrees (one in Management and one in Police Administration);and Sandra and I divorced. Sandy passed away in 2006. I settled in Texas on the Crossed Rifles Ranch with my wife Morag Bruce Sabo (a native Scot with the attitude of her ancestor Robert the Bruce-remember "Braveheart"?) and my daughter Deirdre. I have an environmental company which consults on wastewater problems and I also serve as the City Manager for Webster, Texas. We now go trotting around the country supporting Deirdre's Olympic equestrian quest to ...Expand for more

She is now a professional and training Spanish Andalusian Stallions "Alejandro" and "Sabio" for the Andalusians of Central Texas Farm. Alejandro and Deirdre were National Champions in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 along with Sabio and the mare, Mariscala as National Champs also in 2009. She now has 19 horses in training. Since she is only 25, the 2016 games are within her sights. Being a "chip off the old block", she also commanded the Alvin High School Marine Corps ROTC as a Cadet Colonel. She graduated from Baylor University in May 2008 and married Lance Malburg in November 2008. Hope all of you are well!!
