Wayne's Story
Life
I'll make this as short as I can. After graduating with a BS in electrical engineering from Tennessee Tech in 1970, I took a job as a recording and broadcast engineer at Allen-Martin Productions in Louisville, KY. After 4 years there, I started a consulting company with Gary Rice, a friend from Tennessee Tech. After 2 years of consulting, I took a job as Senior Design Engineer at Litton Microwave Cooking Products in New Hope MN designing microwave ovens. In 1979, (now with 2 daughters) I moved back to TN and worked for France Division of Scott-Fetzer as Senior Design Engineer then Special Project Manager then Director of Engineering then Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In 1994 I went to Sunbeam-Oster as Vice President of Engineering and Quality for the Specialty Products Division. In 1997 (after Sunbeam w...Expand for more
as overtaken by an idiot crook known as Chainsaw Al) I went to Intermatic, Inc in Spring Grove IL as Vice President of Produt Development. After 8 years there, my wife, Linda (Class of '67), and I decided to move back to TN to be near our children (2 daughters and 1 son) and 4 grandchildren. For the last 2 years, I have been Intermatic's Director of Risk Management. That means I investigate product liability claims (mostly fires and a few personal injury claims) and handle thier patent, trademark and copyright work.
I feel privileged to have had such a diverse and rewarding career. Its been a lot of fun. I owe a lot to my drafting teacher at Hume Fogg, Paul Beasley. So as a reward to myself, I recently bought a motorcycle. Its a Honda VTX1300R. I love riding it and I hope to see you on the road sometime soon.
