Wayne's Story

Life Life has treated me well. I've been married to Eda for over 43 years and we have 3 grown children and two grandchildren. Our two daughters live in the Denver area. Our son lives in Port Orchard, WA. I am a recovering alcoholic and thank God for my sobriety. Eda and I spend quite a bit of time involved in a motorcycle ministry - Christian Motorcyclists Association and I also work in the Prison ministry. My ride name is Moose - has been ever since I almost hit one in Northeast Washington back in 2005. Eda's is AWTY - for Are We There Yet? I really enjoy riding with her and enjoying our time on two wheels. School I have many regrets about my high school years. Mostly, I wasted time and friendships trying to be something I wasn't and also trying too hard to grow up too fast. Although I sometimes wonder what life as far as school friendships, reunions, etc. would be like if I hadn't graduated early, I also realize I wouldn't have my wife and children if I hadn't and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. College After my discharge from the Marines, I attended night school at California Sate University, Fullerton graduating in 1983 with a BA in Business. The Navy sent me to graduate school at the University of Washington where I recieved my MBA in 1997. Workplace I've held a variety of positions in addition to my military career. In the late 70's and early 80's, I worked as an indus...Expand for more
trial and manufacturing engineer in Southern California. After retirement from the service, I worked in operations management for a government contractor, eventually deciding to work for the Navy at Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport. I am now retired and Eda and I are planning to relocate to Colorado. Eda has been with the federal government for over 30 years now and currently works for the General Services Agency in Auburn as a budget analyst. Eda is retiring in April and we will begin the process of selling our home and moving to Colorado. Although we have a lot of friends and ties to the Puget Sound region, we both are growing weary of the gray and would rather be somewhere with more sun. Of course, the fact that grandchildren live in Colorado might be part of the reason also. Military I retired from active duty in 2000. I spent a total of 26 years in the service. The first 9 in the Marines as an Avionics technician working on A-6A Intruders and then 17 in the Navy as a Supply Officer after completing college. I had a wide variety of tours during my time in the service, from recruiting duty in Texas (Marines) to submarine duty in Hawaii (Navy). Probably my most exciting tour was Supply Officer on the fast attack submarine, USS Sam Houston (SSN-609). I also enjoyed my time on the USS Camden (AOE-2) during Desert Storm and the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) as the Assistant Supply Officer.
