Should I hang on to the old or grab on to the new? I spent 3 years, 9 months and 15 days active duty in the Navy (but who was counting, anyway?), stationed in San Diego, Charleston SC, then back to San Diego. Joined the Navy to see the world and that's all I got to see. I have been married two times and have two grown sons (35 and 31) and a total of...Expand for more
four grandchilren (3 grandaughters and one granson). I have Multiple Sclerosis (since 1969) but prior to the last few years all attacks of the disease were periodic in nature; I would lose strength on one side (usually the left) or experience trouble with my eyesight or balance, but the problem would clear up after a time. But I was always an "MS Suspect" since doctors were never able to confirm the diagnosis. Finally, in 2007, due either to advances in diagnostic procedures or advanced deterioration due to progression of the disease, I was able to get a confirmed diagnosis of MS. Also about that time, the disease moved from its periodic nature to progressive. When I said before that attacks of the disease would clear up after a time, I probably should have said that the strength I lost would return about 95-98%. After repeated attacks and recoveries, that missing 2-5% began to add up. So, in 2010 I inquired about obtaining disability from Social Security. SS told me I could not draw disability since I was still working. I was advised I should go ahead and begin drawing Social Security since I was turning 62 that year and should reapply for disability. So that's what I did. The disability was finally approved around Tranksgiving of 2010. Thankfully, I can still walk (though slowly and with the aid of a cane, walker or electric scooter) and can get around fairly well.".

Climbing into the cat food box.
Peachnik has taken over the house. The plant at the right in this picture is looking rather bedraggled because Peachnik will sometimes sleep on top of it in the planter.
This cat is known to find some of the most uncomfortable-looking sleeping positions imaginable.
Peachnik likes to hid in tight spaces. I was putting some beer in the fridge and he climbed into the box.

Peachnik and Deuce love to wrestle and chase each other around the house. Though Deuce is a lot bigger, Peachnik will pick a fight without hesitation.
