Wehart's Story

Wehart is from Pearl City, Hawaii. His schools include Waipahu High School, Northwestern State Univ., LA, Leeward Comm. College, UH-Hilo Computer Science, Air Force Tech Schools: Crew Chief fixed and rotary wing, Air Traffic Controller-RAPCON, and Satellite/Wideband Technician. Microsoft and Cisco Administrator courses, Federal Acquisition Regulation (COR) courses, Defense Acquisition University-Ft. Belvoir, VA. I returned from S. Vietnam in 1972 on Emergency Leave due to my fathers terminal illness and received a Compassionate Reassignment to Hickam AFB until discharge. Worked for Central Alarm Company in Honolulu until going into the Honolulu Police Dept for a short time. Relocated back to the mainland for 15 years returning back to active duty in the AF as an Air Traffic Controller at Scott AFB, IL. Relocated back to the West Coast (Los Angeles, CA) and worked for Honeywell Protection Services as a Service Technician and then Morse Alarm Systems before relocating to Las Vegas, NV, Worked for the Aladdin Hotel and Casino for a few years while also starting my own security and fire alarm business (Secure Systems Inc.) in Henderson, NV. Returned back to Hawaii in 1988. During this time in Hawaii I worked at Restaurant Row during its construction for Honeywell as Assistant Project Manager. Upon completion of Restaurant Row I worked For Trane Air Conditioning and designed the pneumatic controls for the A/C operation of the Hawaii Prince Hotel. Installed retro-fit fire alarm systems in Outrigger Hotels for Hawaii Instrumentation and Controls Inc. During the evenings I drove tour motorcoaches for Roberts Hawaii on Oahu. Relocated to the Big Island (Hilo) to attend UH-Hilo while still working for Roberts Hawaii on all islands. Joined the Hawaii Air National Guard in Hilo and returned to active duty for SatCom/Wideband school at Keesler AFB, MS. Returned to Hilo after SatCom school with the active AF to continue studies at UH-Hilo in Computer Science. Then hired by Sensormatic Hawaii to be Project Manager for the initial installation of 300 CCTV cameras at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Completed project within 6 months and was then transferred to St. Louis, MO as Corporate PM with Sensormatic Corporation for large projects there. atic, Central District Alarm, ADT Security, and Interface Security in the electronic security and fire systems industry. While with the MO Air National Guard I returned to active duty with the Air Force and traveled to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch and then Honduras with the MO Air National Guard. In 1999 I was offered a position as Technical Controller at Camp Asa Liyah, Doha, Qatar where I remained for a year. I returned to St. Louis in Sept 2000 and worked for Williams Communications as PM for fiber-optic regeneration sites across the continental US. Lots of traveling all over the country, fly in to a major city, pick up a 4X4 and drive to another city hundreds of miles away. I got tired of all the traveling in the US and got a Contractor position with Defense Information Services Agency (DISA) at Scott AFB, IL. Then 9/11 happened and I was offered a Contractor SatCom Technician position in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and headed for Karshi-Kanabad (K2) AB, Uzbekistan. In November 2001 I departed Rhein Mein AB, Germany with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) SOAR from "Black Hawk Down" in Somalia in earlier years. Returned back to Germany in 2002 and was offered an IT Analyst GS 11 position with the Department of the Army in Operations (G3). Remained in Germany until January 2008 and relocated as a GS 12 to a new assignment at Quantico MCB, VA with MARCORSYSCOM in Procurement for SatCom and Wideband acquisitions for the US Marines. October 2009 I was transferred to Navy Yard in Washington DC to work with the US Navy on their NGEN PROJECT. September 2010 I accepted a GS 13 position with DISA CENTCOM FWD in Bahrain as Chief, Engineering Branch responsible for all of the Department of Defense communications throughout Southwest Asia for all of the US Military. October 2011 I returned home to Fredericksburg, VA on medical leave due to stress and PTSD from Vietnam and other military locations overseas. Sold my home in July 2012 and moved to Panama for 14 months before finally coming to Las Vegas, NV and settling in Henderson, NV where I have remained till now. I continue to assist with SatCom issues within DoD and the private sector as a Consultant, working on websites for DoD contractors, periodically going back overseas on special assignments, and awaiting a patent on an invention that I designed.
