Life
I left West Seattle for Omaha, Nebraska and oops- I'm still here. I have been married for 33 years to my husband Ron who is the Vice President for External Affairs for the 4 universities in the state system here. (fancy title for lobbyist) He was a senator and Speaker of the Legislature here for 14 years before starting his current job. We were both very active in Democratic politics before he took this job and now are limited in what he does so I find myself much less involved.
We have a 25 year old daughter who has a degree in theater and teaches classes at a children's theater in town and a 22 year old son who has a degree in fiction writing from Columbia in Chicago. He lives there and writes and works with the vets at a cat shelter- the American James Herriott we hope! He is considering vet school...

o convey my love of literature to high school students. I plan to work part time and spend a lot more time with my two beautiful Arabian show horses. I also plan to devote more time to the several organizations to which I belong. No more essays to grade!!!
All of my family has returned to WA except me. I couldn't convince my Midwestern husband that he needed to move west. My parents retired to Olympia where my dad has stayed even after the loss of my mom, and my brother and his family are in the Seattle area so I visit frequently.
I still see several friends from West Seattle and from my years at Bellingham. I hope to do a lot more traveling once I am retired and see more of them. I will be on the horse show circuit as well as traveling with my husband, so I should be busy enough not to miss teaching but who knows.. .perhaps there is a whole new career for me in the future!
