Wendy's Story
Life
WOW, 37 years, a lot has happened in 37 years. two children- daughter and son, failed relationships( took my maiden name back), lost my brother 14 years ago, two grandsons, and a lot of water under the bridge. I am in a great relationship now and feel like life is just now beginning. Now ride motorcycles. Why? Why not? I have wanted to for a long time and am now with someone who believes in me.Makes life fun again. LG.-and yes still good. IF you look at the picture, some of you may recognize him, yes he is also a Watervliet Graduate. Funny how life comes around...
I live in Kalamazoo, pretty much stayed in the area after I graduated from Bronson School of Nursing in 1975. My greatest success has been surviving cancer for 13 years now. Philosophy? Life is for living- enjoy it, treasure it and appreciate it, if it is trying to kick you or knock you down- take charge and make the changes you need to and then "run" with life! Focus on the quality of your life- not the past, not what you should have could have would have done differently. Enjoy and treasure each day and moment, making the most of life! and most of all smi...Expand for more
le, everyone will wonder what you are smiling about and maybe, just maybe, someone will be brave enough to return your smile!
College
So, after graduating in 1972, I went to Bronson School of Nursing. Graduated with a diploma in 1975 but finally returned in 1999 to WMU for my BSN, graduated Cum Laude in 2002 with my BSN, going pretty much full time while working full time. Finished my Masters in Science of Nursing in Management and Leadership on November 5, 2009. Finished with a 4.0 GPA, not bad for an "old lady" :-).
Workplace
I am the Program Director for a home care program and a Care Coordination Home Telehealth Program that covers the entire lower 1/4 of the State of Michigan. While finishing my MSN, I was gifted with yet another collateral job- the Supervisor of the Safe Patient Handler and Falls coordinator. Keeps me busy. I enjoy my profession and the people I work with. When I look back at my ideas and goals when in high school I am amazed at where I am at this time in my life.
I hope life is good for you too. Where will life take me now? Not sure...guess that is a mystery that time and tomorrow will solve...
