Wendy M.'s Story
Life
I'm blissfully happy in the Pacific Northwest where I am married to a marvelous man and raising two incredible children. I am fortunate to be a full time wife and mother. That doesn't mean that I'm lazy though! I'm a Webelos Den Leader for the Boy Scouts of America and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. I volunteer at both of my children's schools and have served on the PTSA boards. I conduct the choir at my church. I went back to school for awhile too to complete my Associate of Arts and Science Degree and graduated with honors this past summer. But I think I've had enough of that, for now anyway. It would be fun to get my B.A/M.A.; maybe when the kids are older. I am still an avid movie watcher and subscribe to the Hollywood Reporter and Script to keep up with the latest business news and trends. Someday I'm going to sit down and write for myself. (sigh) In the meantime, we camp and travel and investigate the world together as a family. Life is good; really really good!
Workplace
I've had two mini-careers in my life to date. The first was in the hotel industry, beginning at the Santa Maria Airport Hilton where I started as a Front Desk Clerk and ended as the Reservations Manager before leaving to take over a...Expand for more
s Front Desk Manager for another hotel chain out of state. My favorite moment was when the production crew and cast moved into the SMA Hilton for Disney's ROCKETEER. Knowing my love of film, the GM at the time assigned me as liason to the location office and I was able to assist with the organization of local extras and production needs.
That put me on my path to my next mini-career in motion pictures. I started out as a Tour Guide at Universal Studios Hollywood where I was able to rub shoulders with the likes of Steven Spielbert, Sydney Pollack, Tom Selleck, Chevy Chase and the like. It was an exciting time. I eventually went to work for a Producer/Director of Documentary Films which combined my love of Anthropology with Motion Pictures. I left this career path only to become a wife and mother, my most important role. Still, I have dreams of getting back into film in the form of screenwriting and development as the children grow older. An Academy Award would look lovely on my mantel.
Military
I didn't serve in the Armed Forces but I am proud to say that my husband has. He served as a Navy Nuclear Engineer on the USS Enterprise and was top of his class in Power School. He is a veteran of the first Gulf War.
