Wendy's Story
Life
I am happily married to a career military man. Russ and I have been married over 17 years. We have a wonderful, son, Dylan (7). We are living in Washington DC. Russ works for the White House and will retire from the Army in less than a year. Life is busy but here is an update on my happenings since high school. I joined the Army Reserves in 1994 and was an LPN (hated nursing). I have finally found a career that I love. I am a paralegal and I am working towards law school. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree summa cum laude (4.0 GPA) in a prelaw program. I worked as Senior Personal Banker at Wachovia Bank for 6 years and quit to be a stay at home mom. Once Dylan was ready for preschool, I went back to school. It took me a little longer to finally figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up. I knew that now was my chance since I was already at home to get back to the books. I love the legal field. It is very different from banking. My husband has been deployed more than half our son's life. He was in the 82nd Airborne Division and served in Afghanistan and Iraq 4 times. He was in Fallujah during all that mess and I have never been so worried in my life. Being a military spouse is the hardest job in the world. Not a day went by that I didn't look out my window to see if it was a "Class ...Expand for more
A" uniform before opening that door. I feared the worst and prayed for the best. There are many legal jobs in the DC area. And it isn't that far from home. We have a chocolate lab/mastiff dog, She is a hand full (Dylan got her from Santa) so she is still in that puppy stage. I don't get with friends back home too much anymore, but I am hoping to reconnect with some from this site. Nothing major has happened to me since graduating. The typical growing up stories and regrets from my past. We all have them. I miss dear friends and look forward to picking up things on a better note with old foes. I got married at 19 after only knowing Russ for 2 1/2 months but he has made me the happiest woman in the world. I couldn't ask for a better husband, friend, and father for our son. Not only does he do for us, he does for everyone. When he was in Iraq, he asked for me to send him toys and candy for the Iraqi children. They have it rough, much worse than any of us will ever know.
My son started playing hockey last year and we are hooked. We have season tickets to the Washington Capitals and live there. Between his hockey practice and his games and the Caps games, we have no life other than hockey and work. Ok, this is enough rambling. I hope to hear from some of you and God bless you all and take care.
