Wendy's Story

Reading this over it lots like it is more of a travel log than a story about me but I guess I really like to travel. I am having a great life. One that I never thought I would be able to have. I am very grateful to have a great place to live and great friends and family. Still living in Surrey close to Crescent Beach and White Rock. I have gone to Spain to walk the Camino de Santorini. Walked over 100 km so obviously didn’t do the whole pilgrimage. Interesting walks. 14 of us went so had lots of laughs. The company We went with is Walks in Spain. The father & son, Paul and Paul organized everything for us. I would recommend them highly. They were wonderful. After the week of walking 6 of us headed to Cascais, Portugal. What a lovely place. Have been on several cruises with Marilyn and Nita. Rome to Russia and another to Turkey. Loved them. Planning on continuing my travels until I run out of money which might be soon or until I can’t , which I hope is a long time. Went on a walking week in the wine region of Italy Monte Loupe. HF holidays. Another great way to visit places. We walked every day but were treated with dinners and wine every night in a 5 star hotel. Our room had a wonderful view overlooking the Piedmont area with the Alps as a background. I love Italy. Several years ago I went to Africa to volunteer at a game reserve. Got very close to almost all the animals. Exciting and good time. I went to China and worked at a school for 2weeks. Had another great time. Some of the kids surprised me as I always thought they respected the teachers wishes. Some not so much :) I went to Australia and stayed for 4 1/2 weeks. Stayed with amazing people and met several more. Friendly people. Saw the great grey kangaroo while I was out for a morning walk. Quite the size. Amazing muscle definition. I stayed a respectable distance. Lovely though. I have traveled with Nita to Sarnia, Arizona, Puerta Vallarta , England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Paris. Nita, Marilyn and I went on the Alaska cruise.. Went back to Mexico as my granddaughter's babysitter..not much work and a free holiday Traveled with Marilyn to Rome where we caught the 11 day cruise to Greece and Turkey. What great places. Loved them all then we traveled to Florence and Venice. Beautiful places. Got back for two weeks then...Expand for more
headed to Halifax to stay with a woman I had worked with in Dawson Creek. My then 18yr old granddaughter had just started university at Dalhousie so I thought I should go check up on her. So glad I did. Had a great time and feel more connected to both of them. I was home for a whole month before heading off to Edmonton to visit my younger granddaughters..3 &5 years (Now 10 & 12) .I often take my granddaughter, Mackenzie with me for these trips. Went on a cruise with Marilyn, Barry, Nita and Don to Copenhagen, Stockholm, St Petersburg, Talina, and Warimundi. Not sure I spelled that correctly. Great trip. Interesting places. Where will I go next ??? Well I have continued to travel, now with new friends and also Marilyn. I have gone to Aruba, Carrico, and Bahama. Went to Florida which I truly enjoyed which was a surprise to me. Marilyn and I went to Amsterdam and then on a cruise to the Norwegian Fiords. Amazing place. Her and I are heading out on another fabulous trip to the Galapagos Islands. I am so very lucky to have friends who want to travel with me. I am lucky enough to be included in a few parties at Dennis Beaulieu's which is a lot of fun visiting with lots of people from school. Am having a great time life is good. I am truly having a great time I will answer any emails and would like to reconnect with old friends. If you are not a gold membership I can be reached at wwallach at telus dot net. I am retired and wonder why I am busier than ever. I am hoping that life will slow down but I guess I am just a person who likes life to be fast. I even drive too fast. :) I taught for a long time and still enjoyed it. The students were fabulous to me and I miss them. It was nice to retire on such a positive note. Where has my memory gone? I will see a name and remember the name but not be able to place a face to that name. Even some of the people I thought were great. And I don't remember some names of people that I have memories of-that is frustrating as I only have 1 yearbook to look at. I used to see Nita (Juanita Taylor) a lot but she has passed away. I still see Marilyn Johnson, who lives in Sarnia Ont. I visit her a couple of times a year. I see Lorne Wild ( my ex) as well -he lives in Maple Ridge. I am interested to hear what you have been up to and where you have ended up.
