Wes's Story

Oct. 30, 2012 After highschool I attended Anderson University for 4 years while working for the NYC Railroad weekends, summers and holidays. Married Marsha Hill in 1959. Quit school and joined the Navy in 1961. Served as a Chinese linguist in the Far East. Got out of the Navy in 1965, moved to Indianapolis and went back to work for the RR. I attended Indiana University in Bloomington where I received a BA in Far Eastern Language and Literature in 1967. My plan then was to get back into my old outfit in the Navy with a commission. y had discontinued the direct commissions program so stayed with the the RR retiring in 2000. Marsha and I have two offspring, daughter Angela (born 1964 in Okinawa), and son Wade born in 1968. Angie gave us 3 granddaughters, Shelby, a junior at IU, Olivia, a junior in high school and Isabelle, a 7th grader. Wade has a son Wesley, a 7th grader and Haylee a 4th grader. We live in Danville, IN a small town about 15 miles west of Indianapolis. Added in-law quarters to our house in 2005 to accomodate my parents. Pop is 95 and my mom is 93.
