Jean's Story
School
Attended several grade schools around the US - in Omaha, Chicago, and Minneapolis; Eastern Jr HS and then Montgomery Blair HS in Silver Spring, MD leaving in 1957 after my sophomore year; Wurtsmith Memorial HS at Clark AB in the Philippines for my junior and senior years, graduating in 1959. Attended U of MD upon return to the US in 1960, starting with a few extension courses at the Pentagon and then on campus in College Park. Majored first in Psychology and then in Childhood Education. Left school in 1963 to join Delta Air Lines.
College
I attended night extension classes in the Pentagon while working there in 1960-61, then attended classes fulltime on campus in College Park, 1961-62. I commuted from home and lived in the Sigma Kappa Sorority house for a couple of semesters. Loved living on campus and enjoyed most of my classes. Botany professor actually made the class interesting and fun!
Workplace

andatory in those days, and I did not want a "ground" job. I briefly worked for the US Government before joining Xerox Corporation in 1965 as a Customer Representative in Atlanta. I was promoted to the Atlanta Zone Customer Representative Supervisor and traveled 6-1/2 states in the southeast before returning to the Atlanta Branch where I had a brief period in sales training before joining the 9200 program as a Systems Rep. I transferred to Xerox Tampa in 1975 as a 9200 Systems Rep and retired and married in 1978.
I loved my jobs because Delta and Xerox were wonderful companies to work for in those days and I enjoyed working with the public.
Have been married since 1979 to Gene Brown and still live in the same town where we met -- Indian Shores, Florida. It is a second marriage for both of us. He has 2 children, I have none, but am fortunate to have two great stepchildren and their families in my life. We have 5 grandchildren.
We keep our boat in the Bahamas and every few months we spend a week cruising, snorkeling, diving, and occasionally fishing. Life is good!
