Terry's Story
Life
I attended Bellevue High for my sophomore/junior years, then my dad's Air Force transfer sent us to Fairchild AFB Washington (near Spokane) where I attended Medical Lake HS for my senior yr. After HS I attended the Fairchild AFB dental assistant's training program. I then moved in Jan. '78 to Colorado Springs, CO, where my family followed about 6 months later. I met my husband, Chet, at church while he attended the Air Force Academy there. We married in 1983 and have 3 girls (24,17 & 16) and 1 boy (21). Our first 4 yrs of military life, where my husband did his navigator training and flew on the B-52 Bombers, were spent in Sacramento and Atwater, California, and KI Sawyer AFB, (i.e. Siberia), Michigan. He transfered to the B-1 Bomber and we've spent the remainder of his military career bouncing between Abilene, TX and Wichita, (Derby), Kansas. I've worked for the past 7 yrs. as a paraeducator in the math dept. at Derby High--a nice little 2 minute commute from my house--, working with inclusion kids in the regular ed math classrooms. Prior to that, I had been a stay-home mom the majority of our marriage, and spent a number of years homeschooling the kids. I love to cook,... and still love to sing, which I've kept active in, in various ways over the years since high school, up until recently when health issues, (the downside to getting older), and the need to be more available for my teenagers prompted me to step down from our praise team at church. I'd like to eventually get back into it though, when the time is right.
It's hard to believe we are within throwing distance of our 50's, and have kids that have graduated high school, or college, or have kids of their own!
