William's Story
After leaving highschool, I joined the Army. My first job, while thousands went to Vietnam was at the Pentagon. I worked there for four years as a computer operator. Washington DC is okay but there are lots of places I'd rather be, which is odd as you will see later.
My next assignment was to Germany where I served as a computer programmer. One of the things I truly loved about serving in the military was the chance to not just visit other countries, but to live there and experience the culture first hand. The Germans are a wonderful people and they made my stay there very special. I met my first wife while I was there.
I left the Army when I left Germany to go to college. It took me that long to figure out that that was the way to go. When I graduated I gained a commission as an officer and spent the next 15 years travelling the world and learning more about information technology. My experiences gave me a well rounded knowledge of many areas of IT. I finally retired in 1998 and moved on to a second, short lived career with Borg Warner as an IT Manager.

osed the plant I was at which got me job searching again.
To my great benefit and great disappointment, I was hired again to work as a civilian for the Army at the Pentagon. I have served in several positions since coming here, finally landing in a position working in an agency where I really love to go to work. My coworkers make the job fun, entertaining and challenging and the people I serve by providing IT support are some of the best people I have ever known.
We've all heard how government workers are overpaid, but, if you only knew how hard these people are working for you and the thankless hours they put in, you might have a better understanding.
Wow, short, succinct, and totally missing 99.99% of all the things that brought joy, happiness, pain, and sadness during the time I've been granted to experience the wonders of life. I didn't even mention my current wife or my children who make every day a wonderful day to live.
All in all, my life has been good and, at least by my low standards, I have been a success. I hope all reading this have also achieved the goals and dreams we all set out with so long ago.
