After leaving highschool, I joined the Army. My first job, while thousands went to Vietnam was at the Pentagon. I worked there for four years as a computer operator. Washington DC is okay but there are lots of places I'd rather be, which is odd as you will see later. My next assignment was to Germany where I served as a computer programmer. One of the things I truly loved about serving in the military was the chance to not just visit other countries, but to live there and experience the culture first hand. The Germans are a wonderful people and they made my stay there very special. I met my first wife while I was there. I left the Army when I left Germany to go to college. It took me that long to figure out that that was the way to go. When I graduated I gained a commission as an officer and spent the next 15 years travelling the world and learning more about information technology. My experiences gave me a well rounded knowledge of many areas of IT. I finally retired in 1998 and moved on to a second, short lived career with Borg Warner as an IT Manager.
