Enlisted in the US Navy Reserve in 1945. Discharged from Navy in October 1947. Did pulpit supply work for United Methodist Churches in Rowena, Ben Clare, Dell Rapids and Garretson from 1950 to 1953. Started teaching in 1953. Taught is Kimball, SD; Moville, IA; Manson, IA; Sioux City Public Schools, IA. Transferred to Western Hills Area Education Agency in 1975. Retired from full-time education in 1993. Retired from part-time education in 2002.
Have volunteered as a driver for Sioux City Meals-On-Wheels and at Patient Information Desk at St Luke's Hospital in Sioux City.
