My Pets
5 parrots...
2 Cockatoos (Coco and Rocky)
1 Blue and Gold Macaw (The Brat)
1 African Gray (Sam)
1 Blue Front Amazon (Tigger)
All of them talk to some extent.
They're all part 'love bird' and part Feathered Terrorist...
People are always asking where I'm "from" - difficult question for me... Considering I am an "army brat" and went to 22 schools on 3 continents by the time I graduated from BHS in '75.
Some of them were awful miserable places that I couldn't wait to leave - Cleveland, El Paso, Tappan New York and Barboursville - where I didn't seem able to do anything quite right or fit in and finally stopped trying. I was lonely and never really made any close friends. Never did anything with anyone outside of school-sponsored things...
Others like Karlsruhe Germany, One place on Okinawa, Spokane where I was surprisingly happy and really didn't want to leave when it was time. Karlsruhe was my favorite - a fairly small school when I was there less than 30 in the graduating classes. The '72-'73 school year - I always seemed to be doing something at school - Band, Cross Country, Track Yearbook staff, Chess club, German/American cl...Expand for more
ub. I had a group of friends that I did things with outside school too - including my 1st beer at the Moninger brewery restaurant downtown when I was 15. Parties or just "hanging out" talking etc.
After high school, college at WVU and a short, disastrous bout with the air farce, I moved to California (with an eternity one summer in Tulsa Oklahoma on the way ) I've lived in San Francisco since the early 80's - I like it here, though it's getting too expensive to live here. I even like the fog, which seems to drive most people crazy. We have 3 seasons every day, none of them summer ;-)
I write computer software for a living - I've had code running for everything from a process control box at a steel mill to a data collection system on a linear particle accelerator, a Dept. of Energy radiological research lab to a foreign currency payments system at a bank and a system that scheduled locomotives for a railroad.
Romance - took me forever to figure myself out in that department - along the way, there were a couple of the silliest schoolboy crushes you could imagine on people that might surprise you though I never did anything about any of them.
